"I have worked with Amanda on many different legal matters and found her to be thorough, accurate and resourceful.  Her research and writing skills are exemplary, producing positive results for me and my clients.  As a sole practitioner, I have found that utilizing a freelance attorney gives me much greater flexibility in terms of financial control of my practice and specific case and client management.  Amanda has both the skills to address known, as well as novel, legal issues and the temperament to work with clients in a way that will reflect very positively on your practice."

                                                                -Martin S. Protas, Esq.

"I am a solo attorney in practice for over thirty years. Amanda has drafted discovery and various lawsuits and motions and has conducted research into complex legal issues on behalf of my firm. She is an adept researcher and skilled writer. After conducting research relating to standing to sue and breach of fiduciary duties, she not only captured nuanced case law, but was able to advise me on potential theories of liability and the likelihood of my client's recovery under each. Amanda went on to draft a successful suit. In addition to my law practice, I own a residential and commercial real estate brokerage. Using a freelance attorney in my law practice has allowed me to focus on my brokerage when needed. Amanda is knowledgeable, professional and personable and I would highly recommend her services."

                                                                -Anthony M. Shore, Esq.

"I have been working with Amanda since opening my firm and she has been a great asset. Her outstanding research and writing skills have helped my clients achieve the results they desire, and her work has been a vital part to my practice."

“Amanda has been excellent at handling discovery requests from drafting the requests to compiling the responses.  She has also performed superb legal research, written memos and drafted various other legal documents.  She is prompt, thorough, reliable, reasonably priced and a pleasure to work with.”

                                                                  -Alisha L. Jacobsen, Esq.

"Amanda is a brilliant attorney, whose research is thorough, and her writing is incisive and impactful. She brings an incredibly creative mind to solve problems. Her brilliance and creativity, combined with her organizational skills, make for an invaluable teammate."         -G.B., Esq.

Why hire a freelance attorney?

Whether you are a seasoned attorney with high volume litigation, or a new practitioner marketing your firm, hiring a freelance attorney for discrete research and writing projects can allow you to focus on these and other aspects of your business. Working with a freelance attorney can save you time, while increasing your revenue without increasing your expenses. Hiring a full-time associate requires a significant investment as you must consider payroll, benefits and other overhead costs. When you outsource work to a freelance attorney, you pay only for the time it takes to complete the project without accruing fixed expenses.

Rule 5.5 of the ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct, “Unauthorized Practice of Law; Multijurisdictional Practice of Law,” authorizes the use of freelance attorneys. ABA Ethics Opinion 08-451 further addresses lawyers’ ethical use of freelance attorneys.

I offer both flat fee per project and hourly pricing options. Writing samples are available upon request.

Since starting my freelance practice in 2017, I have drafted countless dispositive and other motions, primarily in contract dispute matters. I have also drafted appellate briefs and pride myself on crafting persuasive legal argument. Prior to starting my own business, I worked for a number of years in the domestic violence advocacy field, creating resources and analyzing policy for a federally funded non-profit organization. I have also practiced law in both the public and private sectors, and am barred in Maryland and DC. After law school, I clerked for the Honorable Edward R.K. Hargadon, Judge-in-Charge of Juvenile Causes for Baltimore City. I earned my J.D. at the University of Baltimore, where I was a student attorney in the family law clinic and a member of the National Appellate Advocacy Moot Court Team. I hold a B.S. cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh.
